Location, Location ,Location……

When choosing your perfect Ibiza Holiday Villa, we really do believe that location is everything. Depending on your individual requirements, deciding on which part of this delightfully diverse island you wish to book your Ibiza villa can often be a daunting decision.  Therefore, we decided to offer a little advice as to some of our favourite Ibiza destinations.

Family Friendly

Whilst all areas of Ibiza welcome families, indeed you may be surprised at how welcome children are in restaurants and other public places at all times of day, there are some areas which are more suited to families than others. We love Portinatx, far up in the north of the island, a secluded yet beautiful bay, which has a wide variety of activities to suit all ages, and is far away from the hectic and decadent club scene. Another favourite resort for those travelling with children is the thriving town of Santa Eulalia, which retains its charm all year round, and offers an abundance of restaurants, shops, beautiful beaches and play parks, ideal for keeping those little bundles of energy busy! Some of our most popular villas in Ibiza are located in and around Santa Eulalia, due to its many attractive qualities.

Tranquility

Ibiza may be renowned for her hedonistic nightlife scene, but there is much, much more to this idyllic island than discos and bars. For those who like to move at a more peaceful pace, head to the sleepy village of San Joan where life is much more laid back. San Joan has long been a haven for the bohemian set, many of who flocked here in the heady days of the 60´s and 70´s and simply never left, and each Sunday the village square hosts a colourful and eclectic market, with locals selling everything from organically grown vegetables, handmade clothing and colourful jewellery. The area is home to some of our most beautiful rustic fincas in Ibiza , where you can relax and revive your senses under the healing rays of the island sunshine.

Party!

If you want to be in the heart of the action, then you have several options to choose from. San Antonio is infamous for its bar scene, and popular with large groups, especially stag and hen parties who come to forget their cares and spend their nights partying and their days recovering! Playa dén Bossa is also a popular place for partygoers, being home to some of the islands hottest night spots, including the soon to be launched Hi Ibiza, on the old site of the much loved super club Space. You can also enjoy the delights of the cutting edge Ushuaia complex, which hosts some of the biggest names in electronic music in its sprawling grounds, attracting a glittering crowd who come to dance the day away under the blue skies. And of course, not forgetting the capital, Ibiza Town, home to perhaps the most famous club in Ibiza, if not the world, Pacha, with its distinctive cherry logo being instantly linked with the Ibiza club scene. Here you can also find some of the most chic and stylish bars on the island, along with many fine dining destinations.

So, whatever your preference, needs or budget, we are here to advise and guide you through the process of choosing your perfect Ibiza Holiday Villa, connecting you with your ideal holiday home time after time, and being on hand to assist you throughout your stay. Contact us today at [email protected] and book your piece of Ibiza paradise for the summer ahead.

The day of love, St Valentine´s Day, or Día de San Valentín, as it is known in Spain is almost upon us, and here at Ibiza Holiday Villas we feel that love is most definately in the air! From the fragrant almond blossom that so beautifully adorns our countryside, the rising temperatures and warming winter sun, to the already mounting anticipation of yet another glorious Ibiza summer ahead, there´s much to be in love with here on the magical island! Should you be lucky enough to be spending the day on Ibiza, here are some of our top suggestions on how to make the day truly unforgettable.

Nurture your love with Nature

The weather in Ibiza is generally kind to us, as we enjoy an average of 300 days a year of sunshine, so make the most of this fact, and immerse yourselves in nature. What could be more romantic than a carefully prepared picnic in the blooming countryside, shared with your amour? The villages of Santa Agnes and Sant Mateu, home to some of most idyllic Ibiza villas are both perfect destinations. Or for a truly sensational experience, why not wrap up and head to one of the islands famous sunset spots, where you can pop a bottle of fine champagne as the sun prepares to make it final descent into the sea after yet another perfect Ibizan day. At this time of year, Hostal de la Torre, near to San Antonio, is a perfect spot to enjoy this mesmerising experience, and for the lovers amongst you they have a special Valentine´s Day menu available. See their website for full details http://www.latorreibiza.com/en/promotions/146-st-valentine-s-day-2017

Wine and Dine your way to Romance

Nothing says “ I love you” like a candlelit dinner for two in a hopelessly romantic setting, and even in the low season, Ibiza offers no shortage of enchanting, alluring restaurants where you can spend a heavenly evening together. We simply adore Casa Colonial, located just outside of Santa Eulalia. Here you will discover a timelessly elegant dining destination, much loved by island residents and holidaymakers alike. You and your loved one can enjoy an intimate dinner with their bespoke Valentine´s Menu. Spaces are limited and bound to be popular, so be sure to call ahead and reserve! https://www.facebook.com/CasaColonialIbiza  Call +34 971 338001 or +34 646 377695.

Over on the west coast, in the thriving resort of San Antonio, where you will also find some of our  most divine villas for rent in Ibiza, the eternally popular Villa Mercedes will throw open their palatial door to welcome lovers for a truly epic Valentine´s dinner, creating memories to be treasured for a lifetime. The chic and stylish setting, romantic ambience and fine cuisine make this another favourite of our Valentine´s day spots. For more details or to make a reservation, visit their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/VillaMercedesibiza

So, make 2017 the year to show your true love just how much they mean to you, and most of all, enjoy St Valentine´s Day right here on the idyllic island of Ibiza, where love always reigns supreme.

Farewell January and welcome February! We may be busy preparing our Ibiza villas ready for the summer ahead, but in the meantime, we always try to make time to enjoy all that the island has to offer. After one of the wettest Januarys’ since records began, we are embracing the sunshine and the island is refreshed and rehydrated by the much needed rains. As the sun shines her healing rays, the island is beginning to bloom, and whilst we continue to enjoy the peace and tranquillity, there are many ways to enjoy the month of February here in Ibiza. Here are a few of our February favourites…

Almond Blossom
The sight of the acres and acres of fragrant pink and white almond blossom trees which fill our countryside each and every year simply have to be seen to be believed…..in fact they have become such an iconic wonder of nature that people travel to the island each year from Europe and further afield simply to marvel at their beauty. These magical trees can  be found all over Ibiza, but if you head to the northwest of the island, towards Santa Agnes and San Mateu, home to some of our most loved villas in Ibiza, then you will discover an abundance of these unmistakable blooms just waiting to be admired.

Carnaval !!
If there´s one thing Ibiza knows how to do, it´s throwing a party! Each and every February Ibiza Town, Santa Eulalia and San Antonio host their annual carnaval event. Colourful, fun and family friendly, this a big date in the diary for many island residents, who flock to the streets to enjoy the sight of the brightly decorated floats pass by, filled with participants from  schools, dance and sports clubs and local businesses. Each float has its own individual theme, many with great soundsystems adding to the party vibe,  with children and adults alike singing and dancing alongside and aboard as the parade passes through town. The whole town joins into the carnaval spirit, with bars and restaurants offering special prices on food and drinks and families, children and holidaymakers alike filling the streets to create a real Ibizan atmosphere.

Walking Ibiza
A great way to experience the aforementioned almond blossom in its full glory is to join a guided walking tour, where island experts will take you on a journey to places you may never find alone. Walking Ibiza is arguably the most professional and knowledgeable of these organisations, and is led by island born and all round Ibiza expert Toby Clarke and his team, whose inherent love of the island and her hidden pathways is evident in each and every route they plan. During the month of February you can join them on one of their many walks, each one is carefully mapped out and leads you on a journey of discovery and adventure. Ibiza welcomes over two million tourists every year, with the vast majority visiting between the months of May and October. This massive influx of people in such a short space of time inevitably puts a huge strain upon this tiny island’s resources and environment. To compensate for this the Balearic Island authorities have stated that the money raised from the ‘bill of sustainable EcoTax’ will go towards supporting natural heritage, tourism innovation, reinvestment in tourist areas and landscape care.

As a result of this action, tourists travelling to Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca are now obliged to pay a tourism tax. This is a charge on a per person, per night basis and applies to all holidaymakers aged 16 or over.

The rate of tax for private villa rentals is 2 € per night, plus another 10% IVA (equivalent to VAT).

The tourism tax rate for visitors staying at a hotel will depend upon the hotel’s star rating. Four and five star hotels will cost 2 € plus IVA per night, while one to three star hotels will cost 1 € plus IVA per night – the same as a private villa.

This rate is reduced by 50 percent for holidays exceeding ten days in duration and tourists visiting during the ‘off-season’ (between November and April).

This relatively new tax will normally be collected on arrival by the visitor’s travel company or hotel.

However, for guests of Ibiza Holiday Villas this tax will be collected upon arrival at the villa in cash. All guests will be informed of the applicable amount and whether in fact they will be required to pay it themselves in their final confirmation of holiday arrangements.

A fair number of our more generous villa owners are absorbing this extra tax themselves and may not ask you to pay any extra!

All of the funds raised by this new tax will go to help preserve the raw natural beauty of this most beautiful island, such as the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ses Salinas, a natural park which is home to more than 300 species of wildlife.. (pictured), and also be reinvested to some of the island´s most popular areas, ensuring that whilst Ibiza is booming, the island herself is protected and sustained.
